Beyond Al-Anon
In the late 1930’s, Al-Anon was getting started.
Its three C’s message to families was:
You didn’t Cause it
You can’t Control it
You can’t Cure it
That was true in the 30’s, and it’s true today.
However, today we know so much more.
Today, we know that focusing on what we shouldn’t do or can’t do sends an opposite message to our subconscious. The more you think a certain thought or do a certain action, the more that thought or action is likely to happen.
Do you know the common statement, “neurons that fire together wire together”? That’s Hebb’s Law. https://www.facebook.com/reel/2617780018592746
The more we think a certain thought or do a certain behavior, the more likely it is to happen.

I love the cartoon figure acknowledging "good habits, bad habits - I don't judge. I just build on what you repeat." . . . Families have full control over what they say and do, especially when they learn new skills, practice them, and build stronger neural networks of habits that enable health.
